Two armies of toys, one battlefield of bases and paths. Every turn you either draw two troops or deploy one — but only ever onto ground you can trace back to your own headquarters. Surround a region to pocket its medals, stack a stronger toy onto a weaker one to take its base, and win by reaching the medal objective or by marching a single troop into the enemy H.Q. Two players, peer-to-peer: no accounts, no server, just a room code. On your own? Add a bot.
Your turn is one action: either draw 2 Troops from your reserve onto your rack (max 8 there), or place 1 Troop from your rack onto the terrain and apply its effect, then the effect of its base if that base is special.
Where you may place: an empty base · a base holding one of your own Troops · a base holding an enemy Troop of strictly lower strength · the enemy H.Q. You may never place on your own H.Q. A placed Troop goes on top of whatever is already there; only the top Troop occupies the base.
The connection rule: every placement must sit at the end of a continuous path from your own H.Q., running only through bases you occupy. Break the chain and the far side of the board closes to you.
Kwak, the joker: it can be placed on top of any enemy Troop at all — and any enemy Troop can cover it right back.
Regions and medals: the moment you occupy every base surrounding a region, take the medals sitting in it. They are yours for the rest of the game even if you later lose the ground. A region with no medals in it is worth nothing.
Winning: place a Troop on the enemy H.Q. and you win at once · or reach the terrain's medal objective and you win at once · or, if a player can neither draw nor place, the game ends and the most medals wins — a tie goes to the player who did not run dry.
To read anything on the table — a Troop in your hand or on the board, a special base, an H.Q., a count — point at it, or tap it on a phone. The Troop you pick up shows its card above the prompt. The 🪖 Troops button lists all eight Troops and all eight terrains, with their exact wording.
Toy Battle is by Paolo Mori and Alessandro Zucchini, published by Repos Production. This is an unofficial fan implementation. The rules above, the eight Troops with their strengths, effects and printed Notes, and the eight terrain powers are transcribed from the publisher's English rulebook and player aid. The eight board layouts are transcribed from photographs of the physical boards, since Repos publishes no straight-down scan of them — bases, paths, regions, medals and each board's printed objective.
